The International Federation for Psychotherapy (IFP) is a worldwide, interprofessional, interdisciplinary and intercultural umbrella organisation for psychotherapy.
The IFP is an organization of national, regional, and school-oriented psychotherapy societies. Its goals are to facilitate and promote international communication among the various schools, professional groups and cultures within psychotherapy. The IFP promotes the development of psychotherapy in practice, teaching and research and encourages and supports appropriate standards in the practice of psychotherapy.
The IFP organizes international congresses and conferences on psychotherapy. Every four years the IFP invites one of its member organizations to organize a World Congress. For the edition of 2018 the Federation’s Dutch counterpart the Nederlandse Vereniging voor Psychotherapie (NVP) in English the Dutch Society for Psychotherapy was invited to host the congress.
The Nederlandse Vereniging voor Psychotherapie (Dutch Association for Psychotherapy) is happy to welcome all psychotherapists from all over the world to the historical center of our capital Amsterdam.
Since 1930 NVP is the society for all registered psychotherapists in the Netherlands. It is a scientific society aimed at the development of psychotherapy and on strengthening the position of the profession of psychotherapist. Next to that the society is the first point of contact for the Dutch government for anything concerning the profession.
The NVP stands for continued improvement of the quality of psychotherapeutic treatments that the members execute.
